The Vietnamese passport has moved up six places to 82nd in the latest global travel freedom index, according to the Henley Passport Index. This means that Vietnamese citizens now enjoy visa-free access to 55 destinations, including Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates. In Southeast Asia, Vietnamese passport ranks higher and more powerful than Laos (87th) and Myanmar (89th).
The Henley Passport Index is based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association and ranks 199 passports according to the number of countries their holders can visit visa-free or with a visa on arrival.
The improvement in Vietnam’s passport ranking is due to a number of factors, including the country’s growing economy and its increasing diplomatic ties with other countries. In recent years, Vietnam has also simplified its visa regulations for many countries, making it easier for foreign tourists to visit.
