Hi, i am going to Vietnam on Oct 13, 2012. However, my passport expiration date is Nov 22, 2012. FYI, i am holding Vietnamese passport and U.S green card holder. My question is that if i have to renew my passport before my trip because i am planning to renew it when i get back to Vietnam. Thank you very much!

According to Vietnam Immigration Law on passport requirements when migrating to the country, those who enter Vietnam with tourist purpose must have a passport validity of 1 month. Those who apply for business is required to have passport validity of 6 month at least.
In your case, we suppose that you are planning to visit Vietnam with tourist purpose, so you would not need to renew your passport then. As your passport renewal do not take much time, and your passport is going to expire soon, we highly suggest you to get it renewed to avoid any trouble when traveling around.
To get passport renewal:
1. If you are living in your own country: contact the Immigration Office of the country to arrange and get specific advice as passport renewal requirements are different among countries.
2. If you are living in another country, please do contact with the Embassy of your country to arrange the renewal
To Get Vietnam Visa:
1. Come to Vietnam Embassy in the country you are living, and do ask guidance there
