Vietnam reopen visa application (e-visa & visa on arrival) for citizens of Spain starting from March 15, 2022

Updated: 09:08 PM - 22 Dec,2024

Due to the rapid spread of the Covid 19 virus, Vietnam has to temporarily close its borders and ban international flights while also suspending visa issuance. This is done in order to stop the spread of the deadly virus that has already claimed the lives of thousands of individuals around the world. Thus, all foreign visitors who have a scheduled trip to Vietnam have to either postpone or cancel their trip.

But the travel restrictions were only temporary. Now that the world is slowly going back to normal, Vietnam is once again accepting visa applications from all foreign visitors. So if you’re a citizen of Spain and you have always wanted to visit Vietnam for a holiday, now is the time to apply for your visa.

Do Spanish Citizens Need a Visa to Vietnam?

Spanish citizens are among those foreign nationals that were part of Vietnam’s visa waiver program. Under this program, foreign visitors can enter Vietnam without the need to show a visa. But they are only limited to 15 days. This may not be enough time to enjoy the best things in Vietnam. To get the most of your Vietnam holiday, consider applying for a visa. In fact, getting a visa to Vietnam is now so easy.

As a citizen of Spain, you are entitled to two types of Vietnam visas, the electronic visa or e-visa and the visa on arrival. The electronic visa is the type of visa that you can easily get online. To get this visa, you just need to fill out the visa application form online. Then the visa will be sent to you online as well. There’s no longer a need to visit the Vietnam embassy for this visa. Once you get the copy, you just print it and that’s already your visa. This visa will let you stay in Vietnam for up to a month.

Another type of visa that Spanish citizens can get is known as a visa on arrival. Indeed, this is the visa that you can get on arrival. With this visa, you get to choose from a single entry or multiple entry visas during your application. You also have an option to apply for the 60-day validity period. So it’s the perfect visa for those who plan on staying in Vietnam for more than a month.

How Can Spanish Citizens Apply for the Vietnam E-visa?

If you wish to apply for the Vietnam electronic visa or e-visa, here are the steps to follow:

  1. Go online using your mobile phone or laptop. Visit the official website of Vietnam’s e-visa application system. Provide the information that is being asked from you, such as your complete name, nationality, and other details.
  2. Be ready with your passport’s bio page. This is the page that displays your name, photo, and other important information. You can upload a scanned copy or you can take a photo of this page and upload it. Make sure it’s clear. You will also be asked to provide a passport-sized photo.
  1. Next, prepare your card or PayPal account. There is a $25 processing fee that you need to pay. Take note that this is non-refundable. So if you decide to cancel your trip or if your visa was denied, you can no longer take your payment back. Submit the payment and wait for confirmation that your visa application has been received.
  2. After a few days, they will email you for the status of your visa. When it’s approved, you’ll be given access to download it. Download the e-visa in PDF copy and print it.

How Can Spanish Citizens Apply for the Vietnam Visa on Arrival

For those who would rather get the visa on arrival so they can apply for a multiple-entry with a maximum stay of 90 days, take note that you need to register in advance. That way, you will be given a pre-approval letter that you can use to claim the visa. This is how to apply for the visa on arrival

  1. Register online by answering the application form. Provide your name and other important details. Review everything then submit.
  2. After about 3 business days, you’ll get an email with the pre-approval letter. You will also get a blank application form. You need to fill out the form in advance.
  3. At the airport, look for the Visa Landing Counter. Here, you’ll find other foreign visitors queuing for their visas. Prepare your requirements and queue up. When it’s your turn, give the officer your pre-approval letter, application form, passport, and other requirements. Wait on one side while they process your visa.
  4. Once your visa is ready, they will call you back. Pay for the stamping fee of 25 in cash, either in US dollars or Vietnam Dong. When they give your passport back, you’ll find a visa sticker attached to it.
