Find Out Best Must-eat Dishes To Enjoy In Nha Trang


Enjoying special food in Nha Trang is a must-try for any first-time visitor to Vietnam’s most beautiful coastal city. Not only can you savor a great plenty of fresh seafood, Nha Trang also presents its own unique takes on typical Vietnamese recipes such as spring rolls and curries.

Nha Trang food have an exclusive sweet and savoury flavour. Fish sauce is often used as a dipping sauce. Jellyfish is the classic ingredient for Nha Trang dishes. Besides the well-known dishes, this writing will give you some food suggestions for your trip.

Thit bo nuong la lot (Grilled beef in vine leaves)

Thit bo nuong la lot is a first come in mind dish for late afternoon street snack. Beef is wrapped in la lot leaves (vine leaves) and grilled on low heat charcoal, with the leaves bestowing an herbal flavour to the meat while keeping all the juices.

You can try it on Bach Dang Street, at the corner with Mac Dinh Chi. Here you can also get another tasty snack, banh trang nuong, grilled rice paper topped with ingredients like quail egg, green onions and minced mushrooms for a crunchy, smokey, savoury treat.

Nem nuong Ninh Hoa (Ninh Hoa fermented grilled pork)

Nem nuong Ninh Hoa is a eat-with-fingers and sharing-with-friends type of dining time. Nem nuong is found throughout Vietnam with different tastes but this particular style created in Ninh Hoa District and now it is famous in Nha Trang. You will be served with filled platters of grilled pork roll, rice vermicelli, rice paper, lettuce, fresh herbs, chillies, and garlic.

To get all flavors of nem nuong, you need to wrap it with rice paper, lettuce and some herbs then dip it into sweet-spicy fish sauce. There are two large restaurants on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, west of Nguyen Thien Thuat. Look for the signs Quan Nem Ninh Hoa Nha Trang. You can also get nem nuong at Ngoc Tien at 59 Le Thanh Phuong, a block south of Yersin Street, and at Nem Dang Van Quyen at 16A Lan Ong Street.

Nem Dang Van Quyen does a delicious bun thit nuong (grilled pork rice vermicelli), a filling noodle kind of salad that’s perfect for lunch on a hot day. Cold rice vermicelli noodles are topped with grilled lemongrass pork, fresh herbs, peanuts, shredded lettuce and a sweet, salty dressing. 

Banh can (Mini pancakes)

Another street food is banh can, the mini rice flour pancakes topped with your choice of egg, fresh or dried meat and seafood, cooked in round pans over coals. The pancakes are served with fatty pork meatballs and shredded green mangoes.

To eat, add all three into the bowl of dressing with chopped green onions so all the flavours get soaked up. Banh can is found all over Nha Trang (outside the tourist centre, that is), so you should have no problems finding it. You can try it at 51 To Hien Thanh, open 14:00 to 21:30. 

Bun cha ca sua (Jellyfish and fish cakes rice noodles)

Jellyfish, the main ingredient of the dish, would definitely bring a new experience for customers’ taste. These opalescent, elongated jellyfish eat crunchy and enjoy with rice vermicelli, fried fish, fresh broth bring sweet and savory taste.

When experiencing this dish, raw vegetables, chili and lemon are the indispensable ingredients. A bowl of Nha Trang’s “bun cha ca” also contained jellyfish and steamed sailfish. This fresh dish is especially suitable for those who are on a diet.

Seafood

Customers can choose fresh seafood which is raised in cage under the sea by their own hand. After that, people will sail to nearby restaurant by ferry, where seafood will be immediately prepared and cooked. On the mainland, tourists can consume fresh seafood at reasonable price at the wet market. 

Pho 

Pho is the traditional and national food in Vietnam but it has different tastes due to geography and culture throughout Vietnam. You will never eat the same taste of Pho in Vietnam, so Nha Trang will not be the exception.

The broth is sweeter than Northern Pho and somehow lighter than in the south. A plate of various kinds of vegetables is often served together with Pho. Customers choose which vegetables they want and dip them into the soup, mix up all and enjoy.
